When a domestic-worker arrangement ends, separate three matters: the household’s service agreement, the worker’s employment record and the immigration record. Identify the legal employer and the applicable official cancellation route before submitting documents. A message ending a monthly service is not, by itself, evidence that a worker’s contract, permit or residence has been cancelled.
Identify the arrangement
Separate the service customer, legal employer and worker records.
Select the official route
Use the applicable domestic-worker and residence service.
Prepare consistent records
Check document details, payment records and application references.
Retain the completed result
Review the official status and instructions for the next lawful step.
Original record-management workflow. Official integrated services can link transactions; this is not a universal order of separate manual applications.
Start by identifying whose agreement is ending
Read the names in the service and employment documents. A household buying an agency-managed service and a household named as the worker’s employer have different positions. Ask which record is being closed and who is authorised to handle it. Use the sponsorship and employment responsibilities guide to organise the documents before discussing cancellation.
If the household is ending a service purchased from an agency, handle that agreement’s payment and service questions through its terms. Separately establish what happens to the worker’s employment arrangement. Avoid treating a service-refund calculation as an immigration application or as a final settlement of the worker’s own entitlements.
Understand the records without assuming duplicate applications
MOHRE lists dedicated services for domestic-worker work-permit cancellation and domestic-worker employment-contract cancellation. Choose the service for the actual record and case rather than using a private-sector employee checklist.
| Record or decision | What to identify | What to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Household service agreement | Parties, ending-service request and agreed payment position | Written communication and service calculation |
| Employment arrangement | Legal employer, relevant contract and end-of-employment position | Contract reference and settlement record |
| Work-permit or contract transaction | Applicable MOHRE service and case details | Application reference and completed result |
| Residence and linked ID | Relevant immigration route and current status | Official cancellation result or related status record |
| Next arrangement | Departure or a new lawful employment/residence route | The documents and instructions for that next route |
This table separates records for clear thinking. It is not a requirement to submit a different manual application for every row. An official integrated service can connect related processes.
Use the relevant official residence route
The ICP residence-cancellation service expressly directs domestic-worker residence cancellation through MOHRE or the Domestic Work Bundle, including the linked residence and Emirates ID process. Follow the applicable service instructions and the data requested for the case.
For a Dubai residence file, refer to the GDRFA Dubai residence-cancellation service. Its service page identifies digital channels and Amer centres. Identify the issuing authority from the actual residence record, and follow that authority’s applicable route. A move between emirates or a household address does not, on its own, tell you which record needs cancellation.
Prepare one practical cancellation folder
Keep the worker and employer identity details, relevant contract and permit references, residence information, application receipts and a contact for transaction follow-up together. Provide documents through the official or authorised channel handling the case. Check names, passport details and transaction numbers before submission; errors are easier to identify when every record can be compared with the same document set.
Create a separate payment sheet showing wages and other amounts being addressed, payments already made and any point requiring resolution. Read declarations before signing and make sure acknowledgements accurately describe what has happened. The contracts guide and complaints guide provide related context for records and unresolved concerns.
Close the process using the result, not only the request
An application receipt shows that a request was submitted. Retain the completed result and review the official instructions for the worker’s next lawful status or departure arrangement. Do not assume that cancellation itself authorises work for a different household.
When contacting INAYA, explain whether the question concerns ending a household service, an employment contract, a work permit or residence. Share the relevant document references through the agreed private channel. This keeps the discussion focused on the right transaction and protects the distinction between the customer’s commercial arrangement and the worker’s employment and immigration records.
Customer questions and answers
Does cancelling my monthly maid service automatically cancel the worker’s residence?
A service-ending request and an official residence-cancellation result are different records. Identify the employer and the official transaction applicable to the worker’s arrangement.
Must every record be cancelled through a separate manual application?
No universal manual sequence applies to every case. ICP directs domestic-worker residence cancellation through MOHRE or the Domestic Work Bundle, where linked processes can be handled through the applicable service.
Can I use a company employee’s cancellation checklist for a domestic worker?
Use the dedicated domestic-worker service and the relevant immigration instructions. Private-sector employee requirements should not automatically be applied to a domestic-worker case.
What proves that the cancellation request has finished?
Keep the official completed transaction result and check the resulting status and next-step instructions. An application receipt alone records submission, not completion.
